There are lots of perfectly willing fathers who are happy (or ok true, perhaps obliged) to take on the heavy lifting and carrying of baby supplies as the family goes around town.
And if so, I'm guessing for a lot of you that the guys would rather avoid having to carry a pink daffodiled and overstuffed bag around their shoulder all day. Can they handle it? Sure. But why be stuck with that look, when there are lots of great stylish alternatives for men that fit them a whole lot better?
Diaper bags for the guys in a baby's life are a trending item in the baby marketplace. The colors are more subdued in general, with greys and blacks dominating the scheme. Though you will see bright colors, they are certainly more male-oriented. There also are more masculine patterns on some of the bags too. In line with the popular Element and Afflicted-style t-shirts of the last few years, a number of these bags carry that theme with royal markings, understated logos, and subtle branding. These are often also marketed as a messenger or backpack style.
A personal favorite that is economical and stylish among friends of mine is the Diaper Dude line. The Orange Lion Diaper Bag is a messenger-type bag. It has a very wide strap for slinging over a shoulder. It's look just right on a guy and has resulted in good approvals and nice comments from others when wearing. I can attest to that in my family. And at under it's something affordable that can be purchased and felt good about when your guy is strolling down the street or in the neighborhood.
For the true business man who wants go with a fit that's in line with a more urban and city center setting, there are some cool offerings from a company called Petunia Pickle Bottom. Don't knock the name, they have a lot of good stuff in my experience. The Scout Journey Pack comes in grey and black and looks very much like a Tumi computer bag or a stylish piece of travel luggage.Yet it still has all necessary features with large interior pockets, changing pad, magnetic straps and exterior detachable pockets. This bag is aiming at a certain group of people who will definitely appreciate these small but thoughtful touches. It's a classy look and I think most guys would feel pretty happy to own one.
My bet is that you'll continue to see a number of men's diaper bag products that appeal to a more masculine aesthetic. Some guys are perfectly comfortable with their masculinity and have no problem toting around a big flowery bag or purse-like carrier that their wives use. But no need anymore to subject themselves to this if they're not comfortable. Good-looking options are out there and they are priced right.
